The mediation session follows the 12-step process prescribed by the Dispute Settlement Centre of Victoria
Meet & Greet
Introductions
Statements - Each party states their view of the dispute
Open discussion between parties
Private session for each party with the mediator
Negotiation - Parties explore potential elements of an agreement
Agreement - If reached, the agreement can be verbal or can be documented by the mediator

Successful Mediation
Success measures have been achieved when the following can be demonstrated:
The parties in dispute attend voluntarily
The process is conducted respectfully
Both parties are able to understand the other point of view
A position of agreement is reached at the conclusion of the process
