About Speech Educators
We are a team of experienced Perth speech pathologists who deliver the best possible speech therapy to kids and adults alike!
All therapy is customised to suit the individual patient. For children, our services are designed to maximise their potential and help them achieve everything they want to. Adele Jane helps children and teens with speech difficulties, auditory processing problems and general literacy and numeracy problems. Kids who have trouble with learning to communicate, read and write can often benefit from seeing a speech pathologist.
Adele also works with adults to help with, among other issues, swallowing (dysphagia), a stroke that has affected speech, ADHD, and accent reduction.
What is speech therapy used for? Speech therapy is practised by qualified speech and language pathologists (SLPs) to improve their patient's ability to speak as well as help them with understanding and processing language. This includes helping patients with reading and using non verbal body language, not just spoken words.
At what age should speech therapy begin? Children learn to communicate through a series of stages from birth up to the ages of 2-3 years. If your child's developed seems to be delayed behind these typical stages and they have other signs like a poor memory, not able to follow directions and a lack of non verbal communication then it might be a good idea to consult a speech therapist.
Can adults benefit from speech therapy? Yes, there are many reasons adults should see a speech therapist. You may want help with stuttering, accent reduction or be experiencing difficulty swallowing after a medical incident like a stroke. Speech therapists can also help adults who have ADHD or "executive functioning" disorders.
