About Ashton Technology

My business is all about people and helping them to navigate modern technology. I deal with both businesses and residential users dealing with issues ranging from failed hardware on their computers to helping them set up their laptops, printers and phones. If I could describe my aims in my business,it is to do my best to put people at ease while helping them to understand what is happening and then solving their issues. I started this business back in 2008 which is a long time to have a business and now I have over 2000 active customers that I keep in touch with via newsletters and blogs. I was previously to 2008, employed as a Senior Software Developer with companies in London, Perth and Sydney. The GFC saw my job go down and when the economy recovered, I discovered I was happy running my I.T. business here in Woodvale, and I never went back to long work hours hunched over a computer. I now serve people in the northern suburbs of Perth and I am both happy and proud to be a resource to help local residents and businesses.

A serious and common cause is a hard disk drive and that is fixed by replacing it with a much faster Solid State Drive. It isn't always bad news and it can be simply that you have software issues that can be easily repaired. If your computer is say quite old then it may simply not have enough resources such as RAM or a fast enough CPU in it to give you the performance you need.
The first thing is to just shutdown your computer. The second step depends on what happened while they accessed your computer. If they get into bank accounts then immediately phone your bank to let them know. The third step is to get someone such as myself out to look at what they have done. If they have decided to take files then they will already be gone. Often they install remote access software such as AnyDesk which needs to be removed. They can do other things depending on their degree of sophistication. I find most of the time, they don't do much. If they show signs of having really made a lot of changes then a complete reinstallation of your computer will be needed.
The answer is really the Windows Defender built in to Windows these days does quite a good job. If you use your computer for business or just use it a lot then I would recommend ESET Internet Security which is $119 for 3 years and I am a reseller for ESET. You won't get bothered with by constant emails trying to upsell you as you do when you buy the retail product.
