Anyone considering using QLD Spit Roast for a function please continue to read and SHARE......
We held our wedding in Toogoolawah on the 1st October and had hired QLD Spit Roast to do our catering. This included finger food post ceremony, mains and dessert. During the process Paula our consultant was AMAZING. However that is where the service from this "professional", and I use that term lightly, ends. I have listed our complaints below with the company, however, as they don't like poor reviews, they have now refused to discuss compensation leaving us to alert anyone else that would consider them of the possible dangers.
WEDDING DAY
* The caterers arrived late and tried leaving prior to serving all desserts
* Caterers complained to the bride about the distance from the kitchen to reception (60-80m), we had advised from the first consult that this would be the case
* Finger food was well over 45 minutes late on being placed out. Agreed 4pm for crackers and dips. 4.15 for hot food. Nothing was seen by 4.40 when we departed for photos
* Only 1 tray of dessert was cut and placed out, the remaining was left in the kitchen uncut. The brides mother had to forcibly request the remaining dessert to be cut and served. Caterers had to unpack plates as they had packed up and were leaving
* The catering staff were not cleanly dressed nor presented
* Some kitchen items used were not cleaned
* Microwave was rendered unusable (blown) and not reported
* ALL food was served cold or luke warm at best - over 100 guests can confirm this
* Gravy was spilled on a guests coat when clearing a table, no apology or acknowledgement - serveral guests witnessed this
* Caters asked a family friend that was cutting our cake for a serve of the cake
For the majority of these issues, I have over 100 guests to confirm.
POST WEDDING
* I've spoken to our consultant, Paula, who was very apologetic and told me we would hear something back within 14 days. 15th day I called back and was told someone would contact me by Friday (3 days)
* Received an email from Deborah, Operations Manager, stating all staff are casual or agency staff and she was having trouble locating them to hear their version of events
* Offered a refund on the chefs and overtime we were charged - to prevent a "he said she said senario"
* Replied stating we would accept $500 to assist in replacing the damaged microwave and dry cleaning bill - no replies
* Follow up email asking for Directors details so we can deal with them directly - no replies
* Contacted by our host (My mother) and advised 3 oven trays have been taken along with 2 Table Spoons that had belonged to her late mother
Today I was emailed by Deborah advising that as we have given the company a poor review the offer to compensate was withdrawn.
