About Australian Fatigue Management

Australian Fatigue Management
Australian Fatigue Management offers nationally recognized training in the course:

TLIF0005 Apply a fatigue risk management system

The course is required for drivers of regulated heavy vehicles who work extended hours under National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation in either Basic or Advanced Fatigue Management (BFM or AFM).

The online fatigue management course has been specifically developed to comply with the accreditation standards set out by the Nation Heavy Vehicle Regulator.

Undertaking our fatigue management course ensures that both drivers are provided with the in-depth knowledge and understanding of the risks road fatigue poses; it also ensures that operators and system administrators have the knowledge needed to successfully manage these risks and comply with the laws set out by the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator.

Basic Fatigue Management Accreditation (BFM)
Operators with Basic Fatigue Management (BFM) accreditation can operate under more flexible work and rest hours, allowing for (among other things) work of up to 14 hours in a 24-hour period. BFM gives operators a greater say in when drivers can work and rest, as long as the risks of driver fatigue are properly managed. Drivers who have completed accredited fatigue management training can driver under an operator’s BFM accreditation.

Advanced Fatigue Management Accreditation
An Advanced Fatigue Management accreditation allows for a heavy vehicle driver to take a genuine risk management approach to managing driver fatigue. It also affords the driver increased flexibility with his or her work and rest schedule in exchange for the driver demonstrating greater accountability for managing their driver’s fatigue risks. Drivers who driver under Advanced Fatigue Management are afforded further extended hours up to 15.5 hours as long as their company fatigue management practices that are compliant with the fatigue management systems set in place by the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator.
