Second hand racking is often not as cost effective as you think. Often we find that second-hand dealers sell damaged and non-conforming racks, you may think that you are saving money by picking up a couple bays of second hand pallet racking, but in the long run you are more likely to get stung rather than win. The real problem lies in the fact that each brand of racking is constantly upgrading its product and therefore will generally only certify to their newest engineering specifications. This is an industry wide standard as all manufacturers constantly try to better their product. So if you buy second hand you are often buying the surpassed product that is no longer certifiable. This in turn means that you can’t get proper certification (which HAS to be from the manufacture) for the racking you just bought, which allows workplace health and safety to condemn your racking system. We often find that second hand dealers charge about the same as we do because of the misconception that second hand is always cheaper. IT’S NOT!
